Coastal Living; Gardener's Cottage, Blakeney, Norfolk.

It’s always a treat visiting beautiful homes to style and photograph and visiting Gardener’s Cottage in Blakeney, Norfolk was no exception.

Blakeney is one of my all time favourite Norfolk coastal villages and is well known for its picturesque streets of characterful brick and flint cottages with small colourful wooden doors and peaks of inviting interiors through original sash windows. Most Norfolk holiday makers have been crabbing along Blakeney quay, spent time watching boats bobbing about in the sea or resting lazily in low tide and mooched around Blakeney’s handful of art galleries and gift shops. What many don’t see are the tucked away houses down gittys and private roads. Behind the well trodden tourist tracks there are hidden houses with cottage style private gardens and peaceful sanctuaries.

Gardener’s Cottage is one such property – a hidden gem just a few steps away from Blakeney’s heart. No one would ever know it was there. For a cottage it’s large; 5 bedrooms , 4 bathrooms, a very large family kitchen/dining area and a cosy snug. With a beautiful wraparound garden too there’s plenty of space for every guest to relax and unwind.

The first thing I notice when I stepped into Gardener’s Cottage was how light, bright and airy it was. The interior decor is pale and fresh with a mix of vintage, French and nautical interior styles. It’s welcoming with a cosy feel despite its size. I instantly envisaged multi-generational families with dogs in tow spending a very comfortable, social and thoroughly enjoyable stay here.

When I style interiors on site in preparation for a photo shoot I always use the props and accessories around me. It’s important to keep it authentic, especially if I’m photographing holiday accommodation. As a big fan of vintage china I was in for a treat at Gardener’s cottage with cupboards brimming with vintage plates, bowls, cups and saucers. What a joy it would be to sit down at the large kitchen table using all the beautiful vintage wares or to enjoy afternoon tea on the lawn on a balmy summers day sitting at one of the many carefully positioned garden tables.

If you’re looking for a large dog friendly cottage to stay in, in one of the nicest coastal villages which North Norfolk has to offer then Gardener’s Cottage is the one for you. It’s spacious with a comfortable relaxed style and exceedingly well equipped.
